Hello and welcome!
I’m Taylor and I am so grateful you have found your way to my little sanctuary where I have found so much peace, bliss, joy, and growth. I have always been a lover of nature. I remember being 4 years old and making mud pies outside in the rain. I remember at 11 being mesmerized by the creek we regularly camped by in the summer. At 14 I would sit up in one of the African sumac trees on our property and listen to the bees. The beauty of nature always made herself clear to me wherever I planted my feet.
When I was 20 I had the opportunity to live in Denmark for a few months. It was the changing of the seasons from Autumn to Winter and it took a great toll on my mental and emotional health. I call Arizona home where the sun shines around 3,900 hours a year. Going from that to the Danish island of Zealand where the average amount of sunny hours throughout the year is 1,700 was incredibly difficult.
My time in Denmark proved to be pivotal. Upon coming home to Arizona I stepped on the long, beautiful, never ending journey towards healing. While on this path, I found my way back to nature and to the power of plants.
One of the first significant encounters I had with the plants occurred while facing over a year of infertility. Per a dear friend’s recommendation, my husband and I decided to see a local herbalist rather than undergo testing with a fertility specialist. This wise woman herbalist listened to me and placed me on a regimen of different herbs. Within a few months I was pregnant and a little less than a year after initially visiting this wise woman we welcomed our beautiful little wildflower pixie child into the world.
This experience ignited a profound desire to learn all I could about the wisdom of plants. Up until that point my knowledge of the medicinal power of plants was limited to a few essential oils and the spices in my kitchen cupboards. Throughout the next couple years I dove deep into learning all I could about these beautiful, intelligent creations and the incredible ability they have to heal body, mind, and spirit.
I am not suggesting plant medicine replace all aspects of allopathic medicine. I believe that allopathic practices have saved countless lives, including my own and many of those I love. However, I also believe individuals are quick to turn to allopathic practices for “quick fixes” instead of trying to get to the root problem. Plant medicine and holistic practices are functional, as allopathic medicine should be. I recognize these plants as allies. The way I approach working with plants is to look at the individual as a unique human, taking into account the whole body, mind, and soul.
The mission of Flora + Ro is to empower individuals in recognizing and using their innate strength to transform their health and well-being through education, compassion, and authentic connection.
These plants know what they are doing. Mama Earth knows what she is doing. They are here to teach us if only we are humble enough to listen and learn.
